OvO Gustavo, Math
Looked over a worksheet I had created last week that had several word problems on it and decided that it would be a good activity for the students to do as a homework assignment to practice their reading comprehesion skills (the math part of the word problems were not that difficult--it was by far the wording). We also talked about other activities we could do that brings in English, these included having the students create their own word problems and doing presentations on different research topics related to math.

Students just finished a marble-work system where they followed directions in building a 4-part contraption involving ramps, levers, gates, a seesaw and a clown. Students had to write a paragraph describing how the contraption works and I helped the students with vocabulary and overall sentence structure.

Silvia, Art
Students are looking at websites and how they are designed for different purposes. Students had to print off the homepage of three different websites and then bring those to class to discuss. However, before we did this, I led the class in examining 4 different websites (NY Times, ESPN, Amazon, and my blog) to compare and contrast the different aspects of websites. The point was to have students understand that different websites have different purposes and this affects their appeal to observers.
